Scrubbing, sweeping, dusting and cleaning… It was all a labor of love, rewarded with hands-on and bonding time with the rescues for FIU Pre-Vet Society members at our ranch yesterday. SFSPCA’s Education/Outreach Coordinator, herself an FIU alumna, gave an informative presentation about our history and mission to the group. Then, it was off to work with our volunteers showing them the ropes around the barn and tackling chores. After barn and buckets were gleaming, rescue horses Martini and La Bolichera were brought out for lessons in leading, handling and grooming. And of course, treating!

The pictures below (credit to Susie Martell) really tell the story. Click on each to enlarge, with the option to view as a slideshow. Special thanks to FIU students and SFSPCA volunteers Brianna Chin and Amy Acosta for their help in coordinating the visit, and to our volunteers who pitched in to supervise and assist!
