My Story

Layla’s journey to safety began when Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was called out to a local property and discovered her living in severe neglect and deplorable conditions. Recognizing the urgency of her situation, first responders coordinated with the South Florida SPCA to remove her from harm’s way and bring her to safety.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is where almost all our horses and livestock start in the rescue process. Because most of our horses and livestock come in starved and neglected, our first order of business is to bring them back to good health.

Every horse, and all livestock are individuals, and their level of starvation or neglect at intake is equally individual. There is no way to know exactly how long a horse or the livestock will remain in rehabilitation. Once our animals are in good health, they become available for adoption and rehoming.
