My Story

Odell was found abandoned on August 7th near the canal levy in southwest Miami-Dade. She was found with another horse, a gelding, now named Ranger, who is also at South Florida SPCA.

Odell is confirmed pregnant. She is expected to foal in February 2025. Anyone interested in adoption will be thoroughly screened for their ability to take care of a mare in foal, the birth, and the foal and mother once the baby arrives. At this time, please do not inquire about the foal or the mare separately.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is where almost all our horses and livestock start in the rescue process. Because most of our horses and livestock come in starved and neglected, our first order of business is to bring them back to good health.

Every horse, and all livestock are individuals, and their level of starvation or neglect at intake is equally individual. There is no way to know exactly how long a horse or the livestock will remain in rehabilitation. Once our animals are in good health, they become available for adoption and rehoming.
