My Story

Meet Wild Dapple Annie, AKA Annie, an off-track thoroughbred. This bay beauty has a sweet disposition and is fitting right in with the SFSPCA family. Annie is currently in rehabilitation but is expected to begin the retraining process with no limitations.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is where almost all our horses and livestock start in the rescue process. Because most of our horses and livestock come in starved and neglected, our first order of business is to bring them back to good health.

Every horse, and all livestock are individuals, and their level of starvation or neglect at intake is equally individual. There is no way to know exactly how long a horse or the livestock will remain in rehabilitation. Once our animals are in good health, they become available for adoption and rehoming.

Your donation helps provide a SFSPCA rescue with feed, board, medical care (including dental &farrier), as well as rehabilitation work and training. Rescue horses typically have unique needs and can cost over $11,000 a year for one horse!
