June 18, 2013 was an historic day for Miami-Dade County as Commissioners voted to authorize Mayor Carlos Gimenez to budget an estimated extra $20 million for animal welfare to save cats, dogs and large animal victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment. We are very, very proud of our Commissioners and our caring community! A special thank you to Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Commissioner Sally Heyman and Animal Services Director Alex Munoz, for their hard work in developing this Plan that will make Miami-Dade County a model for the rest of the State of Florida and the Nation. The journey to this historic moment started with Michael Rosenberg and PETS’ TRUST MIAMI without whom this day would not have been possible. Most of all, thank you to all our SFSPCA supporters and the voters who spoke with voices 500,000 strong at the ballot box last November. Thank you one and all!
