Homestead, FL (June 2, 2014) Eight starved, emaciated horses were seized by Miami-Dade Agricultural Patrol in SW Miami-Dade and turned over to South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Sunday, June 1, 2014. The horses, six Thoroughbreds and two Quarter Horses, all scored a “1” on the body condition scale, the lowest score possible. The all-mare band includes one that’s likely pregnant. Police have charged the owner of the horses with animal cruelty. More details on the horses to come as soon as possible.
A special fund has been set up to help care for these horses, donations are desperately needed: https://www.crowdrise.com/savethe8bays
