My Story

Meet Emma’s Jewel, AKA Emma, an off-track thoroughbred mare who came to us in connection with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, an organization that supports us through rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming off track thoroughbreds.

Emma will begin retraining and become available for adoption following her rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is where almost all our horses and livestock start in the rescue process. Because most of our horses and livestock come in starved and neglected, our first order of business is to bring them back to good health.

Every horse, and all livestock are individuals, and their level of starvation or neglect at intake is equally individual. There is no way to know exactly how long a horse or the livestock will remain in rehabilitation. Once our animals are in good health, they become available for adoption and rehoming.

Your donation helps provide a SFSPCA rescue with feed, board, medical care (including dental &farrier), as well as rehabilitation work and training.
